Not So Silent Night

No, I'm not trying to be politically INcorrect! That's the concert I went to Tuesday night with Jana and Raylee. It was SOOOO fun, and I think Raylee got a little "culture" instilled in her. Here's all the bands/artists that played:

Metro Station--one of my new faves!

Gavin DeGraw--NOT one of my new faves! Too bad he had the only cute t-shirt for sale.

Blue October--nice to finally know who I am listening to on the radio!

We the Kings--again, I only know ONE of their songs.

Boys Like Girls--good to know, but I still don't know who they are!
Lesley Roy--missed her while waiting in line to even get through the gate.
We had fun and we are looking forward to seeing Nickelback in April!!!

Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet!

Last night we went to the Fall Festival at church for a little while. Then Delaney joined up with Peyton and her gang to trick or treat. Braxton didn't quite get the concept of trick or treating this year. Instead of getting candy in his bucket, he gave it away. However, he DOES understand the EATING part of it...He has a sweet tooth like his Mama! Here's my little monsters:

I LOVE TROY!

Red Ribbon Week

We look forward to Red Ribbon Week every year because it means a week of fun dress up days. Wednesday was "Join the FIGHT against drugs."

Delaney wore her camo pants to help FIGHT drugs.

Today was "Hooked on BOOKS not drugs." Everyone dresses as a storybook character.
This is TINA from Smelly Socks!

Top 10 List

I wanted to participate in Tip Junkie's Top 10 Favorite Things in my house, so here goes:

#10

Master Bath Window--I wanted something to put on the window without fully covering it. I also didn't want fabric because I like candles with my calgon!

#9

Our Bed--Still waiting to find that perfect headboard, but we still love having a big, fluffy bed. Our last bed was pretty crummy-that "newlywed hand-me-down" we got 12 years ago!

#8

My Cedar Chest--My grandmother gave it to me when I graduated from HS. I have recovered the top and painted the handles to modernize it a little.

#7

Delaney's Decor--My daughter (5 y/o at the time) needed something BIG to go over her bed. I painted the HSM canvases and decoupaged the D with left over fabric from her curtains.

#6

Braxton's Curtain--Our little buckaroo's room is western motif. Our babysitter is a sewing genius, and she made the valance for his room. The top is faux leather, and the denim and bandanna prints match his bedding. It was so fun decorating for a cowboy, even though there is nothing cowpoke about any of us!

#5

Blue Willow Dishes-- My Granny had a set, and then some, of antique Blue Willow dishes, and I obtained them after her death. So 2 of these pieces are from her original set/s. I think the other is a junk store find.

#4

Grandfather Clock--This was a gift to my Dad when he reached 30 years with his company. After working 5 more, he was given another one, so I am just "storing" this one, so they can have the other one out. (PS He actually recently received ANOTHER one that my brother is "storing." Some day, my sister will get the one at their house now. Here's to the WORKING MAN! Love you Dad!)

#3

Crochet Logue--My Granny crocheted our name for all of us when we got married. She was so talented, and I will always cherish the crochet pieces she has given me through the years.

#2

Family Pictures--Family has always been important to me. I couldn't wait to get rid of the ugly entertainment center so that I could put up some shelves to display family pictures.

#1

Mantle--I love my babies, and what better place to put them than front and center. I usually don't get larger than 8x10s, but I thought I'd try to get a bigger one of them together. I wasn't ever just loving the mantle before, but that big picture finishes it off. I LOVE it!!

Well that took a little time to complete, but I hope you enjoy my Top 10! It was fun looking around and compiling pictures. It was hard to pick only 10, but it made me realize how truly blessed I am. Please share your list too.

Have a great day!

Free Concert

Yep, you read it correctly....it was a FREE concert at Ft. Sam Houston. Our entertainment planner, Danny invited us to go with him, Jana, and Raylee. We jumped on that opportunity.

That's right....TIM MCGRAW baby!!Tim Who??
Nice booty....he was actually putting up badges that soldiers threw on the stage. He took time to pick up EVERY single one. He's a true supporter of American troops!
Just waiting...
Jana's view for the first performance.
Of course we stuffed ourselves with the traditional fair fare....
roasted corn, sausage on a stick, and funnel cake.
We had a great time!!

Need I say more??

Green Thumb, RED Tomato

Cade decided to try his hand at gardening this season. He planted a tomato plant, and replanted it when he read that his original container was too small. He watered it and put in sun, protected it from heavy rain. He probably even talked to it! So we finally had some tomatoes sprout. Well this little guy fell off before it turned red, so we put it on the counter hoping it would turn, and looky here....it turned RED. Why is Delaney holding it you ask? Well, Cade was gone all week, and we needed to document this important event before it wasn't good to eat, so Delaney didn't mind posing. (Cade was at the Republican National Convention, by the way....I'm sure more blog news will follow once I receive pictures from that.) Anyway, the 'mater was tasty, and we have 2 more now!

Back 2 Skool!

Well, it's that time of year again! Summer seems to be shorter and shorter every year. Delaney was ready to get back, and to start at her new school building. She has Mr. Ellis and seems like him well so far. She is riding the bus this year, which has already been a great decision for us all!

Big FIRST Grader!!

I have also started back to school. I am taking an internet Psychology class. I need a few more classes to knock out and then I will apply for nursing school at San Antonio College. I just hope I can stay focused and self-disciplined enough to do this internet course. If so, I can finish most of my classes and not have to get a baby sitter until I start nursing school. So with that said, I will probably fall behind on my blogging a little. Don't give up on me completely though!

Fiesta Texas

We finally had a little fun this summer with an outting to Fiesta Texas with the kids....just a wee more fun than WONDER WORLD! Ok, it was WAY more fun. We were there shortly after opening, and stayed til closing. The kids were all great and I think they had fun. As usual, Delaney was a little upset when she wasn't tall enough for some of the rides, but there was plenty more that she was able to ride, that she was easily distracted. Raylee and Peyton also have no fear, and rode them all! They hug out with us for the day while Jana and Danny had grown-up time in Gruene for their anniversary. I think EVERYONE had a great day!!

Meet The Grizwalds!

We took Raylee, Dakota, Brenna, Peyton, and Delaney to WONDER WORLD, which sounds like a National Lampoon vacation destination. We enjoyed the day with a cave tour, the Anti-Gravity House, and the wildlife train ride. The locals' motto for the adventure is "Where you Wonder in, Wonder around, and Wonder why you came." It wasn't AWESOME, so good thing we get that military discount, but this Grizwald family can make anything fun!

Happy 4th of July

I love the 4th of July! We started our day with eating at Red Robin, enjoying the "all-American" hamburger and french fries. Since we had a late start after a lazy morning, we came back home because SOMEONE was sleepy, and Braxton needed a nap too....

Later this evening we went to Landa Park in New Braunfels to see fireworks. We went early enough to play a round of putt-putt first. Bragging rights belong to Cade, but he only won by ONE lousy point!! We didn't bother counting Delaney's score since she just picked up her ball and put where she liked it. Braxton was our cheering section, or maybe he was heckling.....hard to tell. Delaney had a blast, and wants to play again. I think she just liked to say "putt-putt"!

We accidentally discovered last year that NB has a fireworks show, and it is THE best show we have seen. They shoot them off at the perfect angle that the fireworks appear to be coming toward us. The grand finale is easily longer than a minute, pretty long for a 15 minute fireworks show. We keep adding to our list of what we will do next year to make a whole day of it. We can drive right up to the golf course and plop down on the grass or hang out in the parking lot and just camp out all day. We are hoping "next year" that we might actually have family here to hang out with us, if they aren't tired of us by then!

Happy Forf of July!

Mr. Busy Body made it difficult to get a picture, so

Daddy sort of pinned him to get this much!
